About Us
We are part of Portugal’s largest structural ceramics group, which has been expanding its business for decades and we are now, due to our customers’ confidence, a market leader. Argex – Argila Expandida, S.A., belongs to the Preceram Group, which has been dedicated to the production of expanded clay since 2002.
Here at Argex, we are constantly researching the most appropriate clays and employ the latest technology to ensure ever higher quality standards for our products.
We have large reserves of the highest quality clay to make our expanded clay. This is done with great precision and is environmentally sustainable. The technology we use is the best technology in the world and we continually invest in upgrades.

Location
Our facilities are in central Portugal, near Aveiro, and are served by a road network that provides easy access. We are close to the port of Aveiro, which allows us to ship large quantities of expanded clay all over the world by sea.
Sustainability and the environment
Argex, has, since the very beginning, had an environmental policy aimed to ensure respect and preservation of the environment, ensuring sustainable living conditions for future generations. This is why it has assumed a proactive stance to minimise the environmental impact of its activities.
Certifications
ARGEX expanded clay meets the requirements of standard EN 13055-1, according to system 2+, which recognises the existence of strict internal quality control, certified by an outside entity. Argex has ISO 14001 environmental certification, recognising their commitment to assuming their environmental and sustainable responsibilities, well beyond compliance with applicable legislation.
